Training

The Fundamentals Training Course is taught through 30 lectures and various reading assignments. Taking this course will give you an introduction to the essential elements of biblical counselling. It’s a great first step in counselling training and also completes the training portion of Phase 1 for those pursuing certification.

Students will be taught the mechanics of Biblical Counselling and its theological foundations, how to apply it first to yourself, and then help others who are struggling to do the same.

Counselling conversations are focused on the goal of sharing wisdom with people about how to respond to the challenges of living life when problems abound. Biblical Counselling shares God's wisdom for these problems, and relies on the authority and sufficiency of Scripture.

There are many Christians who counsel from the Bible as opposed to secular methods (Christian Counselling) but what Christians believe about the Bible can vary. Biblical Soul Care UK works in partnership with the Association of Certified Biblical Counsellors (ACBC) because they believe the Bible to be sufficient, that in God's Word, "he has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness" (2 Peter 1:3).

The Fundamentals Training is split into three modules; these can be delivered in person over a weekend or online, and can be worked through at your own pace.

In addition to the lectures there are reading assignments where similar quiz questions help in the learning and upon completion constitute Phase 1 of certification. For those who may not want to pursue certification the learning provided in Phase 1 is very beneficial for any Christian in their own walk, but also as they seek to help others.

Full access to the whole course is available when purchased for only £30. If you are unsure you can register with BSC UK and have access to two selected lectures and an observed counselling session.
